RGC Transplantation Paper Published Featured on Cover of Stem Cell Reports

Our latest paper entitled “Rare intercellular material transfer as a confound to interpreting inner retinal neuronal transplantation following internal limiting membrane disruption” has been published in the journal Stem Cell Reports, and was featured in the cover image.  To read the paper: click here. Congratulations to first author Kevin Zhang, and all co-authors on this important work.

Cover Image Caption: In this issue, Zhang et al. demonstrate that cytoplasmic, nuclear, and mitochondrial antigens can be transferred from transplanted retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) to retinal Müller glia in a process termed intercellular material transfer. This depiction of a forest landscape metaphorically represents Müller glia as trees (which both have a vertical, branched morphology) and donor-stem-cell-derived RGCs as birds. Two birds have landed on a tree and turned that tree red, similar to observations wherein red fluorescent tdTomato is transferred from donor neurons to host retinal glia.
